Green area and playground immersed in history

The "Villa Cavallotti" was created in 1895 by the municipal administration of Marsala to fill the moat left after the demolition of the bastion of San Francesco.  In replace of it, they had decided to create a public garden.  Originally entitled "Villa Francesco Crispi," they later dedicated it to the Garibaldian, Felice Cavallotti, founder of the extreme historical left, a journalist, poet, and politician, giving it his name.

The garden extends over two levels.  The lower one occupies the ancient city moat and the upper one coincides with the remaining part of the San Francesco bastion.  On this level you can admire the panorama of the Egadi islands and Capo Boeo.
