The museum seat of the "Lilibeo" archaeological park is the Baglio Anselmi, a nineteenth-century factory for the production of Marsala wine. It was built around 1880, and used as a museum in 1986, and then in 1999, it was officially inaugurated.
It is known for hosting the Venus Lilybetana (a 1st-2nd century statue, also called Venus Callipygia), and the wrecks of a Punic ship and a late Roman ship, found in the waters off Marsala.
Two exhibition routes branch off from the entrance: The first, on the right, is dedicated to underwater findings, including the Punic ship, the late Roman ship of Marausa, and the medieval relics from the southern coast of Marsala. The second, on the left, illustrates the city of Lilibeo, founded by Carthage after the destruction of Motya (397 BC), and conquered by Rome with the Battle of the Egadi (241 BC), which ended the First War Punic.
