The Mozia museum, is named after Joseph Whitaker. It is located on Mozia Island, in the building that was formerly his residence. Including houses, many of the finds from the excavations that were conducted, cataloged, and then preserved, are now many exhibitors. The museum is run by the Whitaker Foundation, founded by Joseph's daughter, Delia.
The most prestigious "piece" of the extensive collection is the "Giovinetto di Mozia", a marble statue of a male figure, about 1.80 m tall, with perfect proportions and a handsome physique. It is albeit without arms and lower extremities. Several interpretations have been provided on the subject of the statue. The somewhat refined style with which it was made places the period in the first phase of the classical age.
To complete your visit, it is suggested to spend time in the gardens outside. Here you can enjoy some coolness in the shade of the large trees that surround the building.
The boat service is used to reach the museum, which departs from the historic pier and leads you to the island of Mozia.
The ticket can be purchased on the official website at the address: https://www.isoladimozia.it/biglietteria/
