The church is part of the triad of churches in Purgatory which, together with those of Castelvetrano and Trapani, were internally whitewashed with plaster at the behest of a bishop.
In one column it is possible to admire the decorations of the past, now covered by white plaster.
Below it, there are canals that connect it to the Mother Church, a few hundred meters away.
The façade, rich in Baroque decorations of particular beauty, are dominated by the four Corinthian columns and the two bell towers that recall the architectures of Borromini and overlook the Piazza del Purgatorio.
Today the Church is home to the "Santa Cecilia" Auditorium and to numerous cultural events.
